Vessl CEO Sydney Robinson Named 2025 Baylis Ontario Life Sciences Innovator of the Year

We’re beyond proud to share that Sydney Robinson, CEO and Co-Founder of Vessl Prosthetics, has been named the 2025 Baylis Ontario Life Sciences Innovator of the Year by the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI).

Announced live at OCI’s Annual General Meeting at the Toronto Reference Library, the award celebrates innovators transforming Ontario’s life sciences landscape. Sydney was selected by public vote (a HUGE thank-you to everyone who voted!) for her leadership in developing the Kinn Automatic Volume Management System, the first prosthetic socket system that automatically adjusts to a wearer’s limb throughout the day.

“It’s such an incredible honour to be recognized among so many inspiring innovators across Ontario,” said Sydney. “This award belongs to our whole team. Every late night, every prototype, every conversation with a prosthetist or amputee, it all led to this moment. We’re building technology that helps people live more comfortably and confidently, and that’s what drives us every day.”

At Vessl, innovation starts with empathy. The Kinn System was designed to solve one of the biggest challenges amputees face: constant fit changes caused by natural limb volume fluctuations. With Kinn, the socket adapts automatically in real time. No socks, no manual adjustments, just comfort that keeps up.

This recognition comes during a milestone year for Ontario’s innovation ecosystem, with OCI supporting hundreds of companies and thousands of jobs across the province.

We’re so honoured to be part of that story and deeply grateful to everyone who continues to believe in our mission to make prosthetics smarter, simpler, and more human.
